Today is 1 July – time for a new era in pyrogen detection. The Rabbit Pyrogen Test (RPT) is a method of the past. What counts is a safe, animal-free and sustainable test system and this is where NAT-MAT® comes in.
NAT-MAT® combines the established Monocyte Activation Test (MAT) with modern digital PCR (dPCR) technology enabling pyrogen detection according to Ph. Eur. 2.6.30. The system measures the gene expression of IL-1β and TNF-α, allowing for fast cell stimulation in just 4 hours. In addition, it measures the gene expression of a housekeeping gene in parallel with the gene expression of the cytokines. This normalises the pyrogen concentration in relation to the cell number and the result is much more precise than with other methods.
